STEM CELL RESEARCH ISRAEL

Hadassah scientists have been awarded funding for stem cell research through America’s National Institutes of Health under grants available abroad.
Since 1990, the Multiple Sclerosis Center at the Hadassah University Medical Center has been conducting groundbreaking research into the use of bone marrow derived stem cells to treat Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Hadassah’s Sidney and Judy Swartz Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research Center is focusing on the development of human embryonic stem cell-derived progeny for transplantation for people suffering from Parkinson’s Disease.
LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY US
In the spring of 2005, Hadassah Launched SOS: State of Stem Cells, an initiative designed to educate elected officials about the importance of embryonic stem cell research and advocate for legislation on the federal and/or state level.
In 2006, Hadassah won the Genetics Policy Institute’s annual National Advocacy Award for its continued efforts on the issue and in 2007, Hadassah co sponsored a two-day landmark Stem Cell Summit in Boston with the Genetics Policy Institute and Harvard Stem Cell Institute, among others.
Hadassah joined fellow members of the Stem Cell Action Coalition in applauding victory in the Sherley v. Sebelius Stem Cell case on January 7, 2013, which upheld federal funding for human embryonic stem cell research.
